Fund-Raising Walk in Support of Warren Hall, Micheldever Station

Sunday 6th July, departing by train at 0958 from Micheldever Railway Stationtrain

From Winchester Railway Station we walk up through the Victorian area of Fulflood and out onto Teg Down.  The footpath takes us to meet up with The Clarendon Way which we follow for about 2 miles before heading of across Compton Down.  We walk north along a section of the Itchen Navigation towpath to the Hockley Viaduct with its newly restored Railway Signal.  Entering the water meadows of the River Itchen we pass through St Cross and the Playing Fields of Winchester College before taking refreshment at The Queen Inn.

It should be safe to leave your boots at home and adopt more seasonal footwear. But I leave the decision to you.

Distance: 10 minute train journey (buy your own ticket please).  Approx. 10 miles to complete the full circular route back to Winchester Railway Statin.

Terrain: City pavements,  long-distance tracks , footpaths, and routes across the open chalk down land.  Some gentle climbs up and over the Downs.

Refresh: The Queen Inn has a good reputation for food and Real Ales including those from their own micro-brewery. beer
